Headless CMS

A headless CMS your team edits right on the live site

Your developer builds the site on any stack and fetches text, images and lists from a plain REST API. Your team changes them by clicking on the real page — not in admin forms that look nothing like the site.

Headless CMS with a content API — your site stays yours

We give you a REST content API, not a site builder. Your developer builds the site on any stack, and text, images and lists come from the CRM with a plain GET request. A page, a section or a single block arrives as JSON keyed by your own markers; blog posts come as a list.

  • Fetch from the browser on any domain, from your server or at build time
  • Every language in one response, or only the ones you need: ?lang=en,es
  • The public key is read-only, opens only your own site’s content, and can be revoked in CRM settings

What is a headless CMS?

A headless CMS stores content but does not draw the site. A traditional CMS like WordPress keeps the texts and renders the pages from its own theme. A headless one gives the same content through an API, and the site — React, Next.js, Vue or plain HTML — decides how it looks.

That freedom has a price: editors usually work in forms that do not look like the site, and visual preview often needs extra setup. Sitecog keeps the API and adds the missing part: mark an element once, and it can be edited right on the live page.

Choose a headless CMS when you have a developer and want full control over the code. If nobody writes code on your team, a site builder is simpler.

A content API without the usual trade-offs

  • Plain REST and JSON

Pages, sections, single blocks and blog posts with GET requests. Content comes keyed by your own markers, every language in one response or only the ones you ask for.

  • Any stack, no SDK

A normal fetch from the browser, your server or at build time. The docs have examples for React, Next.js and Nuxt.

  • Visual editing on the real page

Mark an element with a data-crm attribute once. After that, texts, images, videos, lists and cards are edited right on the site — and saved to the same data the API serves.

  • 20 languages, translated for you

Add a language and the content is translated in the background with Google Translate. Manual edits are never overwritten; an image can differ per language.

  • Fast and always fresh

Responses are cached on our side and support ETag, so repeat requests get a quick 304. An edit in the CRM resets the cache at once.

  • Safe by design

The public pk_ key is read-only and can be revoked. Access for your team is set per section — read or write — and actions are logged.

From API to on-page editing in three steps

  1. Add your site

Register, add your domain and get a public read-only key. Create pages, sections and blocks — text, rich text, image, video, link, date, list or object.

  2. Fetch the content

Request JSON with fetch and render it in your components. Add one script tag and data-crm attributes to the elements that should be editable.

  3. Edit on the page

Open the site in the CRM and click any marked element. The change goes to the API right away — no rebuild needed for client-side or uncached requests.

const res = await fetch('https://back.sitecog.com/content/v1/sections/hero?lang=en', {
  headers: { 'x-crm-key': 'pk_…' },
});
const hero = (await res.json()).content;

// Mark it once — now it can be edited right on the page
<h1 data-crm-text="hero_title">{hero.hero_title.content.en}</h1>

Change your website exactly where customers see it

Visual editing the way it should work: open your website in the CRM, click a heading, price or image and change it right on the page. No clunky admin forms, no developer needed.

  • Text, images, video, lists and product cards
  • Pick an image from your storage — or just drag a new one onto the page
  • Works with any stack: React, Next.js, Vue, PHP or static HTML

Add a language — your site translates itself

Pick a language from the list and the CRM translates the texts on your pages in the background with Google Translate. Your site stays live the whole time: until the translation is ready, the new language shows a copy of the original.

  • 20 languages to choose from, including Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Thai and Swahili
  • Translation never overwrites your edits: it only replaces text that still matches the original word for word
  • Switch a language off and visitors won’t see it — not in the switcher, not by direct request

Questions about the headless CMS

Do I need an SDK or a special framework?

No. The content API is plain REST with JSON responses, so any language or framework that can make an HTTP request works: Next.js, Nuxt, Astro, SvelteKit, React, Vue or plain JavaScript.

Can people without coding skills edit the site?

Yes, after the developer marks the elements once. Then editors open the site in the CRM, click a heading, a price or an image on the page and change it. New blocks can be added from the page too.

Is there GraphQL, webhooks or a preview mode?

Not yet. The API is REST only, and there are no webhooks. Pages and blocks have no drafts: an edit is published at once, which is why it is made right on the live page. Blog posts have drafts and scheduled publishing.

How does translation work?

You choose languages from a list of 20; the CRM translates text and rich-text content in the background with Google Translate. Text you edited by hand is never overwritten. Each plan has a translation quota in characters.

What are the limits?

The API allows 300 requests a minute per IP and 600 per key, on every plan. The trial includes 3 pages and 2 languages; Basic ($29 per 30 days) — 20 pages and 5 languages; Pro ($79) — 200 pages, 20 languages and the blog.

Is the public key safe in the browser?

Yes. It only reads published content of one site and can be revoked in the CRM settings at any time. It cannot change anything.

Where is the content stored?

Texts and settings are stored in a database on servers in the EU. Uploaded images and videos are kept in Cloudflare R2 object storage.
